Marketing On A Budget: It Doesn’t Have To Break The Bank

marketingonbudget redroosterbaskets

Hi there, good to see you again.  Now I am no marketing guru or networking Queen but I have picked up a few things here and there so thought I’d share.  I’d like to talk about marketing on a budget and how it doesn’t have to break the bank.  After all, we’re in business to make money right?  Right!

If you are a small business just starting out then you know how important it is to market your business.  With that being said when you first start a business most are marketing on a budget.  If you don’t get the word out odds are your business isn’t going to do much moving and shaking.

What’s that you say?  You can’t afford to market your business?  Honey, you can’t afford NOT to.  Here are some money saving tips from no cost, to low cost or some cost marketing ideas for your business until you and your business builds up some revenue.

Free Marketing On A Budget

Now, promoting your business doesn’t always have to mean you have to shell out huge bucks.  Can you guess what one free way there is to market your business?  That would be old fashioned word of mouth.  Yep, talk to people and come out of your comfort zone.  It costs $0.00, zip, nada, nothing!

When you provide awesome product and even better customer service, you will generate word of mouth to your customers or potential customers, who in turn will tell others about your business.  Don’t be afraid to talk about your business.  You will be surprised who hears what and then tells someone else.

Another no cost way to market your business is to find a local business networking group.  Most are free where you meet once a month to mingle with other small business owners and swap information and business cards.  You never know when someone will need the service you provide or vice versa!

  • Start a blog, most user platforms are free.  You can find tons of free tools on the internet to help you set up a blog but don’t forget to keep it updated regularly so readers come back to your page.
  • Advertise in free online classified ads.
  • Social Media:  Is at the top of every business owner’s list.  There are plenty out there: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIN, Google+, Instagram, Tumblr and the list goes on.  Sites that are based on user participation and engagement is huge.

Low Cost Marketing On A Budget

Can you think of a low cost marketing technique that with little money will make a huge splash on your business?  Anyone?  Okay, I’ll tell you.  They are business cards.  I carry them everywhere I go and I leave them everywhere I go, literally, everywhere.  Always make sure your information is current and whenever you mention your business, be sure to offer a card.  You can get business cards for free and only pay a small shipping fee or you can make your own.  You can also use postcards and rack cards for a nominal fee as well.

Marketing With Higher Budget

Should you have funds to spend on your marketing then there are many options out there such as:

  • Newspaper Print Ads
  • Radio & TV
  • Billboards

Advertising can easily get expensive and costly.  So when you are just starting out utilize the free and lower cost means I’ve written about.  As your revenue grows so will your methods of advertising and marketing.

Now, the most important form of marketing in my opinion is Online Marketing.

In this day and age if you don’t have an online presence your competition will stay ahead of you.  You want to get ahead of them.  Creating a website is an important must and one expense that is unavoidable.  However, it can be affordable!

Okay, well that is it for me on this subject today…now, where did I put my coffee cup?

Get Well Gift Baskets & Hospitals

getwellsoon redroosterbaskets

Get well soon gift baskets are a super way of letting someone who needs a little pick-me-up know that your thoughts of well wishes are with them for a speedy recovery.  Nobody likes being sick or have surgery be it child or adult and being laid up at home or the hospital is no fun!

We understand at Red Rooster Baskets that nothing helps the healing process more than a thoughtful get well gift basket to help lift their spirits.

Keep in mind if your gift recipient is in a hospital or nursing facility you may want to know a few helpful tips before sending your get well gift basket to such a facility.

It is difficult to know exactly how long a person will be in the hospital.  Now-a-days there are many surgeries and/or procedures being done on an out-patient basis which means they will go home the same day.  This can often result in a bit of confusion and frustration for someone wanting to send their get well wishes and gifts.

It is our recommendation when sending get well gift baskets via shipping to sick loved ones and co-workers to send their gifts to the patient’s home to avoid shipping complications and to make the discharge and departure process for the patient a little easier with one less thing for them to carry out of the hospital.  Also, sending a get well gift basket to their home makes for a pleasant and happy surprise for their home-coming!

All of our get well soon baskets and speedy recovery gift baskets are designed to be bright and cheerful to help raise a child’s or adult’s spirits.  Some even provide a cure for boredom during the recovery process at home or in the hospital.

Keep in mind if you need to send a more custom, special patient gift basket to meet a particular dietary need to give our customer service a call, talk to one of our customer service associates, they can handle most special design requests over the phone. Toll Free: (800) 207-5815 Monday – Saturday 10am – 6pm. MST.

Please visit us online to view all our kids and adults get well gift baskets that are ready to ship out whenever you need them.

Here’s wishing everyone happiness and good health!

Baskets Baskets Everywhere!

Baskets baskets everywhere!  Being in the gift basket business I accumulate baskets out the wazoo!  Here are some great ideas in re-purposing those extra baskets I am sure you have lying around your house.  Now the perks of having baskets around is they are a fab way to add character to any room of any style.  Since baskets come is such a huge variety of shapes and sizes, colors and textures you can incorporate them anywhere.

Baskets are a nice way of keeping those extra do-dads that are homeless laying around on your coffee tables and kitchen islands a home and tidy.  Bookcases are great spots to add baskets and line them up generally on the bottom shelves, that and entertainment centers like you see in the photo here.

Clutter in the kitchen?  Yeah, me too!  From utensils to gadgets and gizmos and even some produce items like onions, potatoes and what not baskets are a fantastic way of adding extra storage with style!  It’s crazy what you can do with baskets!

Let’s move on to the bathroom ::::rolls eyes:::: yep another clutter zone!  Here is a nifty idea in re-using a basket as a towel holder.  Now you have to admit this is pretty neat!  Baskets are ideal in keeping your toiletries neat and orderly as well as keeping them out of sight but not out of mind.  A few well placed baskets in the bathroom create a spa like affect which is calming.

Do you have a home office?  Shoo out the old ugly metal filing cabinet and replace them with…..yep, you guessed it BASKETS!  See that gorgeous wicker basket to the left on the floor?  That my friends has been converted into a “filing cabinet” …. much nicer than cold gray metal filing cabinets right?

So when I am not filling gift baskets I am finding way to use them again.  I hope you are basket inspired!

What ways to use you baskets around your home or office?  Inquiring minds want to know!

What Is A Dad?

My Dad has been gone a few years now from pancreatic cancer and I get a bit whispy around Father’s Day.   I found this great quote that reminds me of my Dad.  The first memory it brought back to me was when he taught me how to ride my first bike without training wheels.  It was called the Dill Pickle, yes it was the 70’s and there really was a bike named after my favorite sour cucumber.  Ahhhh remember banana seats?  Whoever came up with these crazy names for bikes and seats must have to many “herbs” in their day “just saying.”

So, anyway Dad let go of the back of my bike and I am pedaling away, got to the end of the street and realized he never taught me how to TURN the bike and yep, you guessed it I went crashing to the ground.  Dad came a running on the pronto!  As he was done dressing my boo boo’s I remember I didn’t want to get back on that bike for anything EVER AGAIN!  Dad was very patient and he got be back up and running and riding a bike like  a pro in no time.

Oh, the quote, sorry I got side tracked.  I tend to do that.  I don’t know who the author was or is but I really related to it.

I love you and miss you Dad!

For The Love Of Cinnamon

cinnamonspices

Does the scent of cinnamon wafting through the air bring back some wonderful childhood memories of mom or grandma baking in the kitchen make you all warm and fuzzy inside?  It does to me.  I am drawn to the delightful aroma cinnamon gives.  Doesn’t matter what it’s in….food, candles you name it oh, for the love of cinnamon!  All I knew about cinnamon was that it makes things taste divine used correctly in baking and cooking.

What I did NOT know was the essential benefits it has directly for our bodies.  I’ve found out it’s an amazing super food!  Here are some mind boggling benefits this lovely spice holds for our health.

1.  Cinnamon can regulate a bodies blood sugar counts.  This is especially helpful to those with diabetes and those who have issues with hypoglycemia.   It is also a natural mood stabilizer and helps with natural energy boosts.

2.  Naturally reduces the bad cholesterol levels in our bodies known as LDL levels.  Adding some cinnamon to your tea or coffee daily can help reduce the risk of heart disease.

3.  I suffer with ulcers and learned that Cinnamon has been effective against ulcer causing H pylori bacteria and other nasty little pathogens.  Cinnamon is a natural anti-infectious compound.

4.  Help with Arthritis by reducing cytokines lined to arthritic pain.

5.  Published journal Nutrition and Cancer shows that cinnamon may aid in reducing the proliferation of cancer cells, holding promise for cancer prevention and sufferers of the disease.

6.  Did you know cinnamon is a natural food preservative?  I had NO clue!

9.  Cinnamon contains fiber, calcium, iron and manganese.  Granted small amounts for the typical dose of ground cinnamon but non-the-less it carries those benefits.

10.  It is been proven effective for menstrual pain and infertility.  Cinnamon contains a natural chemical called cinnamaldehyde  which studies show increases the hormone progesterone and decreases testosterone production in women, helping to balance hormones naturally.  If I sounded super smart here, trust me I had no clue and learned right along with you!

11.  This next benefit holds a lot of meaning for me.  Cinnamon holds promise for various neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Brain Tumor and Meningitis according to research at the Cytokine Research Lab at the University of Texas.  Their research shows that cinnamon reduces chronic inflammation linked with these and other neurological disorders.

12.  Okay while this one is not really a health benefit it’s a great way to love cinnamon due to it’s versatility.  It works with sweet and savory dishes when cooking.  Cinnamon is very well known in Moroccan dishes….cinnamon, it’s not just for apples anymore!

Talk about an eye opener that a spice that we all love and use has much more purpose than smelling great!  I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.

Do You Bake?

Untitled2

Can I just ask, do you bake?  When the kids were little baking was down right fun messes and all.  Some of the best memories I have come from my kitchen with the kids and grandkids.  Baking is a lot more fun as a group activity.  You don’t have to be a master baker to bake great stuff.  There are times when I do my baking by scratch and times where I get a little help from Do You Bake with all natural ingredients and yum yum goodies.

Always Room For Growth

growth

I am not a social media guru, not a motivational speaker but I do have enough wisdom in me to know that in life we must always make room for growth in one way or another.  Whether it’s in your personal, business life or both.   Whenever you feel like things are stagnant and nothing is moving along the way you think you’d like it to be that means it’s time to grow.  Expand your horizons.  It can be anything a new hobby, setting a new goal at work, just shake things up a bit and shrug off the dead growth and bring in the new.

I used to be afraid of change and growing out of my comfort zone.  Okay, I’m not fully “cured” but I do much better than I ever have.  There is another quote I like that I do not know the author of but it goes like this “Don’t be afraid of change, it is leading you to a new beginning.”  We are all individuals experiencing our own lives.  Sometimes it may be “similar” to someone else’s life but it’s never truly anyone’s but your own.

So, those are my words of wisdom today.  I am pretty sure this is my own way of telling myself it’s time to grow again in my own life.  What do you think?  Is it time for you too?

My Best To You All,

jamiesig
