Baskets Baskets Everywhere!

Baskets baskets everywhere!  Being in the gift basket business I accumulate baskets out the wazoo!  Here are some great ideas in re-purposing those extra baskets I am sure you have lying around your house.  Now the perks of having baskets around is they are a fab way to add character to any room of any style.  Since baskets come is such a huge variety of shapes and sizes, colors and textures you can incorporate them anywhere.

Baskets are a nice way of keeping those extra do-dads that are homeless laying around on your coffee tables and kitchen islands a home and tidy.  Bookcases are great spots to add baskets and line them up generally on the bottom shelves, that and entertainment centers like you see in the photo here.

Clutter in the kitchen?  Yeah, me too!  From utensils to gadgets and gizmos and even some produce items like onions, potatoes and what not baskets are a fantastic way of adding extra storage with style!  It’s crazy what you can do with baskets!

Let’s move on to the bathroom ::::rolls eyes:::: yep another clutter zone!  Here is a nifty idea in re-using a basket as a towel holder.  Now you have to admit this is pretty neat!  Baskets are ideal in keeping your toiletries neat and orderly as well as keeping them out of sight but not out of mind.  A few well placed baskets in the bathroom create a spa like affect which is calming.

Do you have a home office?  Shoo out the old ugly metal filing cabinet and replace them with…..yep, you guessed it BASKETS!  See that gorgeous wicker basket to the left on the floor?  That my friends has been converted into a “filing cabinet” …. much nicer than cold gray metal filing cabinets right?

So when I am not filling gift baskets I am finding way to use them again.  I hope you are basket inspired!

What ways to use you baskets around your home or office?  Inquiring minds want to know!

What Is A Dad?

My Dad has been gone a few years now from pancreatic cancer and I get a bit whispy around Father’s Day.   I found this great quote that reminds me of my Dad.  The first memory it brought back to me was when he taught me how to ride my first bike without training wheels.  It was called the Dill Pickle, yes it was the 70’s and there really was a bike named after my favorite sour cucumber.  Ahhhh remember banana seats?  Whoever came up with these crazy names for bikes and seats must have to many “herbs” in their day “just saying.”

So, anyway Dad let go of the back of my bike and I am pedaling away, got to the end of the street and realized he never taught me how to TURN the bike and yep, you guessed it I went crashing to the ground.  Dad came a running on the pronto!  As he was done dressing my boo boo’s I remember I didn’t want to get back on that bike for anything EVER AGAIN!  Dad was very patient and he got be back up and running and riding a bike like  a pro in no time.

Oh, the quote, sorry I got side tracked.  I tend to do that.  I don’t know who the author was or is but I really related to it.

I love you and miss you Dad!

Always Room For Growth

growth

I am not a social media guru, not a motivational speaker but I do have enough wisdom in me to know that in life we must always make room for growth in one way or another.  Whether it’s in your personal, business life or both.   Whenever you feel like things are stagnant and nothing is moving along the way you think you’d like it to be that means it’s time to grow.  Expand your horizons.  It can be anything a new hobby, setting a new goal at work, just shake things up a bit and shrug off the dead growth and bring in the new.

I used to be afraid of change and growing out of my comfort zone.  Okay, I’m not fully “cured” but I do much better than I ever have.  There is another quote I like that I do not know the author of but it goes like this “Don’t be afraid of change, it is leading you to a new beginning.”  We are all individuals experiencing our own lives.  Sometimes it may be “similar” to someone else’s life but it’s never truly anyone’s but your own.

So, those are my words of wisdom today.  I am pretty sure this is my own way of telling myself it’s time to grow again in my own life.  What do you think?  Is it time for you too?

My Best To You All,

Mother’s Day Time Of Joy Or Sorrow

MotherButterfly1

Let us recognize ALL Mothers, the ones who nurture their children here on Earth, the ones who carry some if not all their children in their hearts and the ones who yearn just to conceive a child.  Borrowed from the Blog of CarlyMarie Project Heal.

Mother’s Day can be a time of Joy or Sorrow.  I have had two friends lose their Mother’s in under 6 months and another friend who lost her little girl just a few month’s ago.  I can understand both.  I’ve lost a Mother and miscarried several children.  I also have beautiful living children.  I have another child that I have not seen in a few years.  Mother’s Day is bittersweet even for me.

My point?  I guess I don’t really have one other than I want to recognize all Mother’s still here and those who have left this world.  To get it out into the  universe that someone understands.   Take the time to honor your Mom in any way you can.  You don’t have to buy expensive gifts to honor her.  If you still have your mother be sure to let her know you love her even if it’s just a phone call.  If she is no longer with us on the physical plain just simply whisper ” I love you Mom” and let it echo through time to her.

Know someone who’s lost a child?  Don’t be afraid to contact them on Mother’s Day.  They need you very much during this time of loss.  The best gift you can give them is remembering and recognizing her loss and she will be grateful you remembered.  That is the biggest gift of all.  Remembrance.

My wish for you and your Mother is to have a lovely Mother’s Day and my wish for those who have lost their loved ones please know we are thinking of you and wish for time to help heal your pain and sorrow.

Much Love and Kindness Sent Your Way,

jamiesig
